I’m going to go a little off base with this post, but I wanted to bring to your attention an event I am hosting.
March 8th is International Women’s Day. To that end, the people who helped organize the Women’s March on Washington, proposed another march. On March 8th.
On International Women’s Day, March 8th, women and our allies will act together for equity, justice and the human rights of women and all gender-oppressed people, through a one-day demonstration of economic solidarity.
To that end, we are hosting the “A Day Without A Woman” event for Durham region! You can find more information at the Facebook page for the event by clicking here.
This is going to be a public event, and I would love to meet as many new faces as possible, so please, join us in ended discrimination against women and gender-oppressed people in Durham Region.
The event will begin at 8:30 in the Region of Durham Municipal Offices at 605 Rossland Rd East in Whitby. We are asking everyone to wear red or pink so that we will be solidly identifiable. This is a child friendly event, so feel free to bring your little ones with you.
We will have some handheld signs, but if you make and bring your own, that would be phenomenal! Please follow the rules of the Municipal Offices, and make sure that you don’t litter. We do not want to be in the news for littering. We want to make sure our message doesn’t get diluted with negativity if the media catches the story.
Spread the word, and please, join us!
