Ontario attempts to restore Aboriginal Midwives!

This week, the Ontario government announced that it was going to be helping to reestablish traditional First Nations midwifery.

They will be doing this by establishing 6 new Aboriginal Midwifery programs. Their goal is to help provide First Nations families with options in their births.

What a wonderful project, and I can not wait to see how it works out! Congratulations to everyone involved! This is an amazing thing you are doing, miigwetch!

This is a project that I am very inspired by. I am Anishinaabe myself, and have wanted to see traditional midwifery services brought back to the First Nations people for a very long time.

What was done to First Nations people in Canada is absolutely disgraceful, and this is a small step in the right direction by the Ontario government to repair the damage that was done. I am very hopeful that this project will take hold and blossom into something wonderful.
